Most people think a fresh layer of mulch is all it takes to get beds looking good. And honestly, mulch does a lot. But if the prep work isn't done right first, you're just covering up a problem - not fixing it.

Here's what we mean. Before any mulch goes down, we're pulling weeds, cleaning out debris, and applying a pre-emergent to stop new growth before it starts. That step alone is what separates beds that look great for a few weeks versus beds that hold up all summer. It's not glamorous work, but it's the stuff that actually matters.

We also put a lot of attention into the edging. Clean, crisp lines along the bed border make the whole front of a home look more pulled together - even before the mulch hits. It's one of those details most people don't consciously notice, but they definitely notice when it's missing.

The full process - weed removal, edging, pre-emergent, then mulch - is what our landscape maintenance approach is built around. We're not interested in doing half the job. When we leave, the beds should look sharp and stay that way.

If your beds have been picking up weeds or just looking a little rough around the edges, this is the kind of refresh that actually solves the problem instead of just masking it.
